Latin-Cyrillic, English-Russian Transliteration Tool

Cyrillic - Latin (Russian-English) Transliteration Tool.

A small software utility to convert Cyrillic text to Latin or Latin to Cyrillic. This tool could be useful for typing Russian text if you don’t have a keyboard, or if you are a slow typist on a Russian keyboard. Simply type something, such as an email in phonetic Russian using Latin text, then copy and paste the Cyrillic into another programme. The tool could also simply be used to help you learn the Russian alphabet.

BETA - This software is largely untested.


The programme requires Windows XP or later. It requires the .Net framework 2.0 to be installed on your computer. Alot of computers will already have this installed. If you do not have it installed the installation programme will download and install it for you. On some computers you will be taken to the Microsoft web site and asked to download and install it, you should normally use the x86 version (unless you have a 64bit version of windows).

The software is distributed as a MSI file (Microsoft installable). Run the latest windows updates if you cannot open this file. If you have troubles executing it, save it in the “c:\” folder and run it from there.

Operating Instructions

Simply type something in the top box and it will be converted to either Cyrillic or Latin text.

You can enter “\h” for the hard sign, and “\s” for the soft sign.

This tool could be useful to quickly type Russian text if you do not have a Russian keyboard, or your typing in Russian is too slow. Simply enter the words phonetically, then you can copy and paste the text to another document.
