The imperfective of повернуть?

The New Penguin Russian Course gives the imperfective of повернуть as поворачивать, but my Oxford Russian-English dictionary says that the imperfective of повернуть is повёртывать, and that поворачивать is the imperfective of поворотить. Masterrussian.com and wiktionary also give the imperfective of повернуть as поворачивать. So what's the story? Is повёртывать not used anymore?

"Повёртывать" is an archaism.

What about поворотить? Is that still used?

So поворачивать took over from повёртывать and it's original perfective also died out? I thought it might be something like that. Thanks.
