Hello,

I'm new to the forum and just thought I'd post a quick thread. I got a "Teach Yourself Russian" kit for my birthday and I decided to use it. So far I've been making steady progress and have understood everything fairly well. However, I'm having quite a bit of trouble with cases, particularly the genitive case. The book I use does not explain cases. I guess it expects me to know them beforehand, but I obviously don't. I'm a bit hazy on the accusative case, and completely confused with the genitive case. Can anyone offer a more clear explanation?

This site does an excellent work explaining the cases. look for the "genitive case" lesson. Read all the lessons. Then read the grammar oner. Ask questions in this forum, no matter how stupid they are. All of us are learning here, and it simply works. Good luck!
