They are designed for our more advanced learners who already have a basic understanding of Russian grammar and vocabulary. As you read each article you will find new Russian phrases and words. Check the English translation if you are unsure of the meaning. Learning Russian from these natural texts will help you to learn to create Russian phrases and sentences naturally, and you will need to spend less time thinking about it. We recommend you read through each article several times, making sure that you understand it. Don’t forget to try reading each article aloud in Russian. Each article was originally written in Russian then translated to English, this ensures that language used will also be natural. On some occasions the English translation might feel a little unnatural.
Our articles will also be recorded in Russian by native speakers. Lena who does most of our recording lives in Russia, not far from Moscow, so you can expect the audio to be natural and current.
At first the audio will seem very fast! The samples are recorded at natural Russian reading speed which is quite fast. Don't worry! Just read and listen to each paragraph several times, making sure you can pick out the main words. Listening to Russian at full speed will really help your understanding when you get to Russia. Don't be stressed if it takes you a long time understand the audio. After you have read the articles you should also attempt to understand the articles just by listening, as this will help improve your oral comprehension skills.
